Hampstead Heath (Mixed Pond)
The Mixed Pond is one of a series of ponds in the south-west corner of Hampstead Heath formed by the damming of the Hampstead Brook. Access to the 4,270 square metre swimming area is via a concrete diving platform. There is a charge for swimming. There is no beach but there is a grassy sunbathing area next to the diving platform. Mixed Bathing Pond is located in Hampstead Heath, close to the Overground station. The water in the pond is around 12 to 15 degrees Celsius. The pond is deep and the water is dark. There is not much space available to sit around, so it is recommended to book a swim and then find an area around the heath to relax. It is not very suitable for children. Tickets must be purchased, preferably in advance, and they are reasonably priced considering they contribute to the conservation and care of the place. After swimming, visitors can easily take the Overground to the center of Camden or Kentish Town for further activities. There are no specific facilities such as a café to buy food or drinks, but there are showers and changing rooms available. The beach is supervised and considered safe for swimming.
