Ramsgate Western Undercliffe is a sandy beach between a number of groynes over about 300m. To the west of Ramsgate Harbour in Kent, the lower half of the beach is rocky and there is a sea water bathing pool at the west end of the beach. Western Undercliff Beach is known for being less crowded compared to Ramsgate Main Beach. It offers a scenic walk at low tide, allowing visitors to walk for miles all the way to Pegwell Bay nature reserve. The beach features an old tidal pool that is enjoyed by dogs and is surrounded by chalk cliffs, providing a picturesque view of gulls flying onto the cliffs. At the right time, visitors can explore several cliff caves. Parking is usually available, although it can get busy during the summer, and alternative parking options at the top with a walk down are recommended during peak times. There are toilets available at the old boating pool situated above the beach. Western Undercliff Beach is loved for its rockpools during low tide and is less crowded during the summer, making it a preferred choice for locals. It is also a good spot for swimming and relaxing away from the main beach area. Previously known as The Artificial Beach, it used to have beach huts and other facilities before the construction of a new road. The sand, originally dredged from the English Channel, is gradually being washed away, revealing chalk rock pools. Despite the lack of facilities, visitors can find public toilets and a café at the top of the cliff. The beach is also popular for fishing during high tide, and parking is currently free for anglers.
