Westcliff Beach is a long sandy/shingle beach in the centre of Southend-on Sea. It has a shallow profile and is backed by a long esplanade. At high water the sea level can flood over the entire beach and lap against the esplanade wall. Westcliff Beach is located in Southend-on-Sea and is close to the road and often crowded. Along the road, there are various places to get ice cream, fish and chips, and cafes. However, the beach itself is not particularly pleasant as it is rocky, has a lot of seaweed washed up, and sometimes smells unpleasant. There are also dead crabs occasionally found on the beach. Visitors have to cross the road to find toilets.
